CUET  2025: Exam Pattern

The CUET  2025 exam follows a unique exam pattern. The candidates' linguistic abilities, subject knowledge and general knowledge are assessed through the exam. Different sections of the exam assess these abilities of the candidate. The 4 distinct areas include:

Section IA: Language Test

Section IA assesses the linguistic abilities of the candidate. The candidates are expected to choose from 13 available language choices. The linguistic skills of the selected language are evaluated in this section. The language choices available are:

 

English; Hindi; Telugu; Kannada; Malayalam; Tamil; Marathi; Urdu; Odiya; Assamese; Punjabi; Bengali; Gujarati. (13 Languages to choose from)

 

Section IB: Language Test

The exam assesses the linguistic skills of two languages of the candidate's choice. In this section, the candidate chooses a second language. The candidates must choose one language from Section IA and one from Section IB. The options available in section IB are:

 

Konkani; Bodo; Dogri; French; Nepali; Persian; Italian; Arabic; Sindhi; Spanish; German; Russian; Japanese; Chinese; Tibetan; Kashmiri; Maithili; Manipuri; Santhali; Sanskrit. (20 Languages to choose from)

 

Section II: Domain Test

The questions from subjects candidates have studied in their 12th Grade will also be included in the CUET exam. The domain test evaluates the subject knowledge of the candidates. The candidates are given several subject choices to choose from. They shall select the subjects they have pursued in their 12th Grade. The subjects include:

 

Accountancy/ Book-keeping; Biology/ Biological Studies/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry; Business Studies; Chemistry; Computer Science/ Informatics Practices; Economics/ Business Economics; Engineering Graphics; Entrepreneurship; Geography/Geology; History; Home Science; However, Knowledge Tradition and Practices of India; Legal Studies; Environmental Science; Mathematics; Physical Education/ NCC /Yoga; Physics; Political Science; Psychology; However, Sociology; Teaching Aptitude; Agriculture; Mass Media/ Mass Communication; Anthropology; Fine Arts/Visual Arts (Sculpture/ Painting)/Commercial Arts; Performing Arts –

(i) Dance (Kathak/ Bharatnatyam/Odissi/Kathakali/Kuchipudi/ Manipuri (ii) Drama- Theatre (iii) Music General (Hindustani/ Carnatic/ RabindraSangeet/ Percussion/ Non-Percussion); Sanskrit.

 

The candidates shall choose up to 6 subjects from the offered choices.

 

Section III: General Test

The candidates are also assessed for their general knowledge and quantitative, logical and analytical reasoning skills, along with language and subject knowledge. These components help in the holistic evaluation of the candidate. This section includes questions from the following topics:

 

General Knowledge; Current affairs; General Mental Ability; Numerical Abilities; Quantitative reasoning (Simple application of basic mathematical concepts arithmetic/algebra/geometry/mensuration/ statistics taught till 8th Grade); Logical and Analytical Reasoning.  

 

The exam will be conducted in two phases: The Morning and Evening Sessions. The exam pattern of both slots is given below:
